If you cannot attend Sunday Mass, you are encouraged to do the following:
Keep Sunday holy, in some way appropriate to your circumstances.
Prayer together as a family or household, where appropriate.
Read the Sunday readings and reflect upon them:
Make an Act of Spiritual Communion (see below).
The Lord does not expect the impossible of you. There is no sin if you are unable to attend Mass (Code of Canon Law, 1248.2; Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2181).
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.
(Pause for silent prayer)
O sacrament Most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise
and all thanksgiving be every moment thine!
(Repeat 3 times)
